Courses I Have Attended:
I attended Melbourne School Of Tactile Therapies, Box Hill, Melbourne, Australia
where I gained most off my qualifications. While there I completed post graduate
studies in Myofascial Release levels 1,2 & 3 and went on to
assist Michael Stanborough in teaching these courses on many occasions.
Mobilising Massage, I went on to teach this course on many occasions.
Sports Massage 4 (sports massage 4 is a postgraduate course
in sports massage). This is another course that I assisted in teaching in.
I completed Rob Granters Sports Massage Courses at Olympic Park Sports
Medicine Centre 1996 (these are more postgraduate courses in sports
massage). Rob Granter is Head Massage Therapist at the Victorian Institute
Of Sport and is Head Massage Therapist for the Australian Olympic team.
Early in 1996 I completed a comprehensive course in P.N.F. (20
hours) for practitioners, this was run in Melbourne by The Sports Massage
Training School of South Australia. Patrice Morency from the USA was the instructor.
In mid 1996 I completed a course in Scientific Back & Abdominal Training,
this again was run by The Sports Massage Training School of South Australia.
Paul Check from America was the instructor. In Nov 96 I also completed Paul
Check’s courses in Program Design, Swiss Ball Training for Athletes,
and Medicine Ball Training. Paul Chek has lectured for the Australian
Institute of Sport.
In March 1998 I attended a course at the Victorian Institute Of Sport. The
course was run by Sport Speed from Queensland, they are a major sponsor of
the V.I.S. The course instructor was Caroline Creager a Physiotherapist from
America. The course covered Open And Closed Chain Stabilisation
and used Swiss balls (sometimes known as fit balls or physio balls) also foam
rollers and other postural and stabilisation implements and exercises that
are in vogue in America at present. The course was well attended by Human
Movement and Phys Ed graduates, Coaches, Physiotherapists and the head Strength
and Conditioning Coach at the V.I.S. Vern McMillan who is an acquaintance
of mine.
In August 98 I attended a five day instructional course in MET (muscle
energy technique) for the lower body, the course is taught by Rich
Phaigh who is a well-known Massage Therapist from the USA and specialises
in MET. In February 99 I attended the second half of this course (another
five days) for the upper body. The course also included Post isometric relaxation
and Transverse friction massage, which I am already very familiar with. I
also hold Level Two First Aid Certificate which I update regularly.
